The Scoutmaster is the adult responsible for working directly with the Scouts to help them create the program for the troop. The Scoutmaster trains boy leaders to run the troop by providing direction, coaching, and support.
Mr. Dickson has been Scoutmaster since 2023. Prior to that, he served 5.5 years as Cubmaster for Pack 96. He has had two sons in Troop 195. Mr Dickson's day job is Software Engineering. He and his family love mountain biking and visiting national parks.
Assistant Scoutmasters assist with the planning and execution of the Troop program and with the training and supervision of boy leaders within the troop. Assistant Scoutmasters oversee the functioning of the troop by supervising and training key boy leaders, including the Quartermaster, the Webmaster, the Patrol Leaders, etc.
The Chartered Organization Representative is the direct contact between the troop and the Chartered Organization (Friends of Westford Scouting, Inc.). This individual is also the organization's contact with the District Committee and the Local Council. If the chartered organization has more than one unit, one representative serves them all. The Chartered Organization Representative appoints the Unit Committee Chair.
Mr. Wildman has been Chartered Organization Representative for Troop 195, Troop 919, and Cub Scout Pack 96 since 2022.
The Troop Committee Chair is appointed by the chartered organization. The Committee Chair organizes the committee and sees that all functions are delegated, coordinated and completed. The Chairperson maintains a close relationship with the chartered organization representative and the Scoutmaster and presides over monthly committee meetings.
Mr. Sperry has been the Committee Chair since September 2022. Prior to that, he served as Assistent Scoutmaster. He has one son in the troop.
The Treasurer is responsible for the managing all aspects of the Troop funds and finances. This includes accounting for all of the payments the scouts make for their trips, as well as accounting for all bank transactions. The Treasurer also advises the Troop Committee on all money matters.
Mr. Gargoloff has been Troop Treasurer since 2021. He has three sons in Troop 195.
The Secretary is responsible for documenting minutes of Committee meetings and making them available to the Committee and Assistant Scoutmasters. Having decisions and votes clearly documented and easily accessible to all in the the adult leadership is an important aspect of keeping Troop 195’s scouting program moving in the right direction and aligned with the general BSA values. The minutes from previous meetings are a valuable resource, often referred to when the Committee needs to recall details of a particular discussion or decision. Minutes also provide transparency for the troop’s adult leadership.
The New Member Coordinator serves as the first point of contact for parents of new scouts that have recently joined the troop and also for prospective Troop 195 scout parents. The Parent Liaison helps with registration and medical forms for new and existing members of the troop.
The Outdoor Activity Coordinator works with the Scoutmaster to ensure the troop has a good monthly outdoor program. The OAC helps with annual trip planning as well as pre-activity planning (making reservations and other logistical arrangements), activity execution, and post-activity notation.
Mr. Sageman has been Outdoor Activity Coordinator since 2021. He has one son in the troop.
The Advancement Coordinator is primarily responsible for tracking the advancement of scouts. This includes encouraging scouts to increase in rank, and maintaining all scout advancement records. The Advancement Coordinator also schedules Boards of Review for boys as they advance ranks and goes to the Scout Shop to buy patches for rank advancement and Courts of Honor.
Mr. Sielian has been Advancement Coordinator since 2023. He has one son in Troop 195.
The Hospitality Coordinators are in charge of coordinating purchase of refreshments, set up, and clean up at Troop Courts of Honor (three held each year, in October, February, and June). The Hospitality Coordinator is also the go-to person for helping with a Troop 195 family celebrating an Eagle Court of Honor event.
The Training Coordinator maintains a troop record of the role-specific courses adult leadership, committee members and parents have taken. The Training Coordinator notifies troop adults when their training will expire and when new training opportunities are available.
