Note that Emergency Preparedness Week for 2026 has passed. See you next year!
Emergency Preparedness Week is an annual national awareness campaign that encourages individuals, families, and communities to prepare for emergencies. Coordinated by Public Safety Canada in collaboration with provincial and territorial partners, it traditionally takes place during the first full week of May.
The main goal of the week is to help residents understand local risks and learn how to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours following a disaster.
Emergency Preparedness Day is an interactive community event held during Emergency Preparedness Week. It focuses on public safety by educating families on how to prepare for, and respond to, local hazards. Members of the public are welcomed to participate in safety demonstrations, explore emergency vehicles, and learn how to build self-sufficient household emergency kits.
Note that Emergency Preparedness day is run by the City of London and not Western Red Goose.
