Join the Pep Band
Pep Band begins the first week back in January! Reach out and join anytime.
The Pep Band season runs during Winter semester and is open to all Western and affiliate students. Brass and Woodwind players will complete an Informal Audition before joining, and rhythm section positions are auditioned. The fee for students joining Winter semester is $40.
Upon joining, members will receive:
music, a flip folder, and a lyre for their instrument
if needed, a rental instrument for the semester
In return, members are expected to:
communicate their availability to student leadership
attend enough rehearsal to perform prepared

Rhythm Section Auditions
Please reach out to <westernmustangband@gmail.com> and schedule a time to meet staff. Auditions are informal, though you are asked to perform a section of a piece of your choosing, and you'll be asked to sight-read several short songs.
Drum Kit players are expected to: perform from a lead sheet containing a bass drum+snare drum outline. Drum kit provided.
Electric Bass players are expected to: perform from tabbed sheet music (tabs w/ rhythm). Amp provided, electric bass not provided.
Electric Guitar players are expectected to: perform from a lead sheet containing the bassline and written chords. Amp provided, electric guitar not provided.
