The Westchester Wildcats

Wildcats History

The Westchester Wildcats Women's Ice Hockey Team is a recreational hockey team based in Westchester County NY, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2015. Home ice is at the Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford, NY.  The players range in age from 18 to over 50, with experience ranging from near-beginner to college level (club / older DIII).  The Wildcats play other women's and girls' ice hockey teams in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area and travel to tournaments from Washington, D.C. to Montreal, Canada.

The Wildcats' season typically opens with a September clinic and games scheduled from October through March.  Tournaments often extend the season into or through the summer.  New members and new opponents are always welcome!

The Westchester Wildcats team has played under the direction of the Westchester Skating Academy since the 1997-98 season.  Previously, the group played there as an independent team.  The team was founded in the mid-1980's as an off-shoot of a group of moms from the Hickory Hill Youth Hockey program based in Katonah, NY and used the Harvey School as home ice for many years.

The Wildcats field two teams each year - Wildcats Red is a USA Hockey C level team and Wildcats White is a USA Hockey D level team; neither team is National tournament-bound, so for tournaments we play in whatever division matches the roster of attendees.
