The Westchester Wildcats Women's Ice Hockey Team, founded in 1985, is a recreational hockey team with home ice at the Westchester Skating Academy in Elmsford, NY. The players range in age from 18 to over 60, with playing experience ranging from near-beginner to college level. The Wildcats play women's ice hockey teams in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut area throughout the season with opportunities to represent our team in a variety of tournaments.
The Wildcats' season opens with a September clinic and games scheduled from October through March. Tournaments often extend the season into or through the summer. New members and new opponents are always welcome!
The team always welcomed a diverse group of women hockey players who in many cases formed lifelong friendships. It was founded in the mid-1980's as an off-shoot of a group of moms from the Hickory Hill Youth Hockey program based in Katonah, NY and used the Harvey School as home ice for many years.
The Wildcats field two teams each year - Wildcats Red is a USA Hockey C level team and Wildcats White is a USA Hockey D level team; neither team is National tournament-bound, so for tournaments we play in whatever division matches the roster of attendees.
