WRMT is a regional math tournament formed by two high schoolers from EHS, Alwin and Hugh, with the intention of bringing a fun and engaging math competition opportunity without the long commute that Tri-State area competitors have to make. This will be our first time running this, so we would appreciate all the support you can give us!
Our mission:
We created WRMT to nurture the next generation of young math competitors. We want to inspire students to compete in math and enjoy doing math as a whole, and we hope that these young competitors will strive to study more math than they did previously. We hope to allow people to have fun doing math and not see it as just another school subject, and build a math community. We hope that more people will take more math competitions after experiencing our competition and seeing the possibilities that math can bring.
Our impact:
We plan to provide a fun and engaging math competition for students in elementary and middle school. Initially, we plan to target the Westchester region, but we eventually plan to expand to serve the Tri-State area. Our tests are designed so that any middle schooler can take our competition with no prior experience, while also giving seasoned competitors a serious challenge. We aim to inspire new students to enter the math landscape positively by bringing a fun, engaging community activity to Westchester.
Test format:
Individual Round: 15 questions with 60 minutes
Team Round: 10 questions with 60 minutes (teams of 3)
