Orienteering Skills Weekend

OSW 2026: October 23rd-25th

What is OSW?

OSW is a chance for Scouts to engage with cadets, learn about the sport of orienteering, and complete requirements 1-7 for the orienteering merit badge. The event is planned, staffed, and executed by the cadets of the USMA Orienteering Club. Throughout the weekend, attendees will have the opportunity to run three courses in the training areas around Lake Frederick and will receive instruction from a cadet assigned to their troop. Scouts will participate in various exercises and practical applications, culminating in a troop-level orienteering competition.

Event Site Map

OSW is held at Lake Frederick. Use this map to find parking, registration, Event HQ, campsites, latrines, dumpsters, and trailer parking. Please note that the lake area is off limits.

Start/Finish Area

A closer look at the event hub on Lake Frederick Rd. Check in at Registration (yellow star) when you arrive. The TOC (red star) is the cadet operations center, and water is available at the water spigot (blue star). Courses start and finish on the field along the road. The areas marked OFF LIMITS, including the beach, are not part of the event.
