West Indian Herping is an organization dedicated to the long-term preservation of reptiles and amphibians of the West Indies through education, eco tourism, photography and research. Our goal is to sustainably promote conservation of the natural world as a whole but with specific attention being paid to increasing awareness and fascination among fellow human beings toward some of the most feared, misunderstood and understudied animals.
Apart from herpetofauna, we also actively engage in the research of other wildlife such as moths, arachnids, fish and mammals.
Why reptiles & amphibians?
Reptiles and amphibians are among the least appreciated vertebrates in the world. Many are useful to human beings, not only for medicine but also in terms of ecological equilibrium. Despite this usefulness to human beings, many species are declining and facing population threats. By influencing people's attitude towards them, we strive to replace fear and misconceptions with respect and understanding .
