Equipment is available on a first-come first-served basis, and the earlier you request, the better. You are required to request equipment at least 1 week in advance of your event. If you miss this deadline, your event can only be approved if an employee is willing to take the shift last-minute. If you or your organization requests equipment late 3 times in a semester, you will be unable to use WSC equipment for the remainder of the term. Our employees deserve ample notice to plan their shifts.
You must provide a car to transport the equipment from the WSC shed in back of the UOC (190 High Street) to the event venue. You and/or a co-organizer must be available and sober to drive equipment at the beginning and end of the event. Events at 200 High, the UOC, and adjacent senior houses are exempt from this policy. Equipment may never be left unattended overnight.
The WSC welcomes all kinds of events happening all around Wesleyan. As long as you follow our policies, we have equipment and people available, and the managers approve the event, we will work it.
Examples of events that have been approved in the past:
Events sponsored by the WSA or Student Involvement
Events held at program houses or ResLife spaces
Events sponsored by student orgs and affinity groups
Senior thesis shows and recitals
Religious holiday events
DJ sets and aux parties (Westco Disco, Halloween parties, Emo Night)
Student protests
Fundraising events
Concerts and open mics
Poetry and literature readings
Theater, improv, comedy, and drag shows
Fashion, dance, and art shows
Karaoke nights
Student formals held on campus or Main Street
Events that the WSC will not provide equipment or audio technicians to:
Any event during reading period or finals (24-hour quiet period), as determined by the OSI
Practices or rehearsals, unless they are held on the day the event takes place or the managers deem that WSC’s services are justified
Private parties not sponsored by a student organization
Varsity athletic events
Any event that all managers agree is an inappropriate use of the WSC’s equipment and resources
Other Important Information
It is highly unlikely that the WSC will provide equipment to any events that last longer than one day; however, depending on logistics and events booked during the week that the event takes place, the WSC managers may approve the event.
The WSC can provide equipment to events held during Senior Week on the condition that there are sound engineers pre-approved to stay on campus willing to work said events.
