3D printers, the most useful tool that is gaining its population at homes! I have two SLA printers and one FDM printer. I print both figures for fun and useful tools to improve my everyday life. I use SolidWorks to design and post them on Thingiverse. Here is my Thingiverse profile.
Favorite prints:
Pokemon Groundon and Kyoga
Gameboy Advance SP extra battery and wireless charging back cover
The best companion of the 3D printers. It is built from a storage box and a restroom vent fan. Here I use the airbrush to paint the printed figures. It is also handy when I need to do a lot of soldering, so that I don't need to hold my breath when melting the soler :)
Paint jobs:
My landlord built the basement as a workshop and left a woodworking bench, so I picked it up, got some tools, and started to try to make some furniture. I found woodworking gives me a very satisfactory experience, for someone like me who loves customization, DIY, and the simple beauty of natual wood.
Furniture built so far:
living room coat hanger
End table for the fish tank
Home NAS and network tower
Next plan:
Rebuild the vacuum hood with wood, so that I can put one of the printers on top to save space. I plan to add UV LED inside, so it can also work as a curing station.
This Network-Attached-Storage is 100% made from repurposed material! Except for the drives, of course, you don't want to put your data in unreliable spaces. The NAS is built with outdated components from eBay. The HDD cage is made with 3D-printed parts and leftover acrylic board from other projects. The material of the wood housing is from my old bed frame :) The router and modem are inside as well.
Now the NAS serves a lot of functions in the house. It syncs my files between all the computers and cloud storage, backs up photos from my phone, and sends books to my e-reader. It also works as the all-around media library and streams videos and music to any device.
Components for the NAS:
CPU: Intel Core i3 8100T
Motherboard: Gigabybe B365M
Memory: Cheapest 4Gb DDR4 2666MHz found online *2
Fan and Power supply: Old ones at home
Next plan:
Set up a home inventory logging system, so that I can check what's left in the fridge anywhere, and don't have to dig the whole house to find one thing that I stored long ago.
DIY a PSU from the battery replaced from my car before next summer, so that the NAS won't shut down unexpectedly during a power outage.
