A brief biographical sketch is available on the subpage below.

Kol Shofar: The Spiritual Meaning of the Shofar Sound

Why is the shofar sounded on Rosh Hashanah? In this class we focus on the deeper meaning of this well-known but little understood mitzvah. There will be brief moments of guided imagery during the session. Material is inspired by traditional sources as well as original material from my own study and experience. The shape of the shofar, the place of the soundings in the Rosh Hashanah ritual and other relevant topics will be explained with emphasis on the mitzvah as a spiritual experience. Examples of the three shofar sounds are included.

Practical Spirituality

Join me in an exploration to incorporate spirituality into everyday situations! "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength."  Beautiful, but what does that have to do with doing the laundry or mowing the lawn?  In this class we will discover what we as individuals believe about God and how that belief impacts even the most mundane activities of daily life.  Come with an open mind and an open heart!

God of Abraham, David and Me: A Study in the Psalms

We will focus on the images of God presented in four (4) selected Psalms: how they portray God, how these images relate to us as individuals and how we respond to them. Each participant will write his/her own Psalm at the conclusion of the study.

4 Questions About Prayer

What is Jewish Prayer? Why do we pray? When and how should I pray? Join us for a study and discussion of the nature and meaning of Jewish Prayer. We will review biblical and traditional texts and practice techniques to enhance our experience of prayer.
