Question: What should I bring to camp?
Answer: Everyone should bring: A completed health form, your Bible, a notebook, swim suit, towel, and clothing for weather of all sorts. Dorm age children, ages 9-17, or people staying in lodging on site also need to bring bedding or a sleeping bag, and pillow. Even if you're planning on sleeping in a sleeping bag, a bottom sheet is desirable. In the dorms the mattresses are twin size and in the adult lodging there are both full and twin size beds.

Question: Should I bring snacks for in the dorm?
Answer: All of your food is provided, along with a snack time in the morning. A concession stand will be open in the afternoon for additional candy and snacks, so you might want to bring a little cash to buy extra snacks. If you bring snacks from home you can eat or share them at the discretion of your counselor.

Question: Where can I set up my camper and what services are provided?
Answer: There is a designated camping area and electric service is provided for those who need it. If you don't need electric service you are encouraged to set up away from the area where the electric service outlets are so those who need it can use it. Based on need and numbers we may have to set up some campers or tents in other areas on the grounds. Everything is "first-come, first-served." We don't have sites that can be reserved.

Question: I won't be at camp for the entire time, how do I calculate how much it will cost?
Answer: Simply use $10 per meal you plan to eat and $40 per night you stay, per person, to calculate your cost. If you have your own lodging, tent or RV, use $25 per night instead. For children under the age of 9 calculate as shown and deduct 15%. For specific rate questions or quotes contact the registrar.

Question: $10 per meal and $40 per night per person seems expensive. Why so much?
Answer: The meal fee and the overnight fee also include your use of the grounds and access to the LBF program, It's not just for the cost of the meal or your stay. Since the number of meals you eat and the number of nights you stay is directly proportional to your length of stay at camp this is the easiest way to calculate your share of the cost. The best value for your dollar is to simply come for the entire camp, it saves each person about $40 over paying ala carte!

Question: Why isn't there a camp at Wood Lake anymore or a retreat at Lutheran Island?
Answer: The Wood Lake camp closed due to financial difficulties. The owners of the property notified the LBF board that they were not operating the camp any longer. The cost of running a retreat at Lutheran Island became prohibitive. Despite the success of our one-time retreat there, the LBF board made the decision to stop using this facility. A search for another facility in Minnesota or Wisconsin is ongoing.
