Dr. Pham Thanh Tung is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, Global Health, and Public Health at the College of Health Sciences, VinUniversity. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Hanoi Medical University (2015) and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (2017). He then completed dual degrees at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health – a Ph.D. in Population Health Sciences with a specialization in Cancer Epidemiology and Cancer Prevention, and a Master of Science in Biostatistics (2024). At Harvard, he also served as Lead Teaching Fellow, Lead Statistical Consultant, and Curriculum Fellow for the Master of Public Health in Epidemiology program, and he continues to serve as a Department Associate in the Department of Epidemiology.

Dr. Tung’s work bridges rigorous quantitative methods with locally generated evidence to inform cancer and chronic disease prevention in Vietnam and other low- and middle-income countries. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, is Principal or Co-Principal Investigator on multiple VinUniversity Accelerating Research Excellence Program (AREP) and Seed Grant awards. He is a recipient of the VinUniversity Excellence in Innovation Award (2025–2026), the First Prize (Dang Van Ngu Prize) from Hanoi Medical University (2024), and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Excellence in Teaching Award (2024).
