Hello, my name is Weiyi Xiao, 肖玮仪. 

I grew up in Qingdao, China and currently live in Toronto, Canada. 

I completed my PhD in Curriculum and Pedagogy at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto. Prior to joining OISE, I earned an MA in Educational Studies from Western University and a BA in German Language and Literature from Beijing International Studies University.

My research focuses on Knowledge Creation (KC), a pedagogical design (theory) I developed to foster and sustain students' equitable participation in collectively transformative knowledge work as they collaborate with each other to learn in classroom. 

My work is grounded in the belief that such equitable, transformative collaboration not only deepens understanding but also develops students’ cognitive and social abilities for creative problem-solving, empowering them for lifelong, expansive learning and full participation in a democratic, innovation-driven society.
