Fishermen Community & Visitor Centre
Incorporate Optimum Indoor Natural Ventilation in Tropical Mangrove Forest by
emphasizing Cross Ventilation via Biomimicry Approach.
Combining the fishing and ecotourism activities of fishermen in Kampung Sungai Melayu, the design aims to provide a comfortable place for fishermen to carry out their daily tasks while also offering a 'third place' for social interaction. Additionally, it fosters interaction and knowledge transfer between the fishermen and the local community. Fishermen can take classes from professionals to enhance their knowledge before guiding visitors in the ecotourism program. Situated in a mangrove area, the architecture incorporates biomimicry principles, drawing lessons from the mangroves to create a sustainable, environmentally responsive facade and structure. This design ensures human comfort through natural ventilation and minimizes environmental impact.
