1/1/2026 Olympia, WA. ESSB 5794 was signed into law on May 20, 2025. It ends a 40 year tax exemption on coins and precious metals. Washington is one of 5 states that charge taxes on precious metals. Stocks, bonds and real estate do not have sales taxes. Why single out bullion? (All investments are subject to capital gains taxes) Please contact your local Washington state legislators and ask them to repeal the precious metals tax. Washington customers will start going to Oregon or Idaho to not pay the bullion taxes. This tax could put local bullion dealers out of business.
