Thank you to everyone who came to walk and Avon HOSA!
Ensuring equitable access to mental health resources for underserved communities is essential for fostering better mental and physical health outcomes.
We gathered at the AHS tracks on June 5th for an important cause—to raise awareness about mental health. Our walk was not just about putting one foot in front of the other; it's about stepping up for mental health awareness, supporting those who may be struggling, and showing that together, we can break down the barriers of stigma. We walked with purpose and solidarity as we continue to strive for better understanding and support for mental health issues in our community and beyond.
We also had a speaker (a child psychiatrist) give a speech about the importance of mental health, especially for adolescents, and the importance of breaking away from the stigma. There was a brief Q and A session after the speech.
I’m very happy to be here and organizing this event jointly with the Avon HOSA club. A huge thanks to Mrs. Edwards and the AHS HOSA club for partnering with me and making this event possible! Another thanks to AHS for permission to use the tracks!
This was WeCare's first ever campaign and I'm very thankful for the success of the event!
Donations (Clothing and stress relief tools) were collected and will go to people suffering from mental or brain health conditions who are in need, such as rehab centers, old age homes, homeless shelters, and stand-down events.
