Here is a collection of films and series that are terrifically crafted, somewhat recent-ish, and tell of the American story. Note that while most of these are as close to being historically accurate as possible, others take some creative liberties, and some are more period pieces to view America at that time. Feel free to ask me as to which is which, and for my favorites. As the age old saying goes, don't judge a movie by its poster (or even its critics' ratings).ย

Part I - Widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, this mob drama, based on Mario Puzo's novel of the same name, focuses on the powerful Italian-American crime family of Don Vito Corleone. When the don's youngest son, Michael, reluctantly joins the Mafia, he becomes involved in the inevitable cycle of violence and betrayal.
Part II - The early life and career of Vito Corleone in 1920s New York City is portrayed, while his son, Michael, expands and tightens his grip on the family crime syndicate.
Part III is ubiquitously disparaged as one of the great flops of a sequel. View at your own discretion...
