Your group has been assigned a role
young mother
meteorologist
environmentalist
small business owner
oil refinery owner
politician
Within your group, think about your assigned role. How do you think someone in your assigned role might approach this project?
Research what is meant by the term Climate Change and/or Global Warming.
Research the effects of Climate Change:
What is meant by "your carbon footprint?" Calculate what your footprint is and how much land it would take to support your lifestyle. http://www.footprintnetwork.org/en/index.php/GFN/page/calculators/
Find out about something called "paleoclimate." http://www.worldviewofglobalwarming.org/pages/paleoclimate.html
What is being said by those who say Climate Change is not real?
Research some possible solutions
Now that you have researched the Climate Change debate, begin to form your position as someone in your assigned role might. Is Climate Change a problem or is it not even real? If it is real, what may be causing the problem? What are some possible solutions? Is it beyond humanity's control to do anything about it at all? Discuss with your group what the group's position in the debate will be. How will you support your position? What evidence will you use?
You have researched the debate and discussed as a group what your position on the debate will be. You have also made decisions concerning what kind of evidence you will use to support your argument. Now it is time to put together your presentation. You will need to present your argument to a policy-forming committee. You will need to convince them of your side of the argument, using your supporting evidence, by creating a PowerPoint presentation, video . Each presentation must have a title, with the names of those in your group, as well as your group's assigned role. You will need a minimum of 3 points for your persuasive argument and evidence, and at least 2 visualizations/images. The final slide will be for your source citations and image credits. Your media file will be emailed to me at the conclusion of the project.
