WebMotion Capture Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 9, 2026
WebMotion Capture turns the visible design of a webpage selected by the user into editable design data for Adobe After Effects. This policy explains the information handled by the Chrome extension and where that information goes.
Information WebMotion Capture handles
Only after the user clicks Direct Send or Collect, the extension may process:
• The visible viewport screenshot.
• Visible webpage text, images, SVGs, visual assets, layout, geometry, computed styles, and short element selectors needed to reconstruct the design.
• Visible non-password form values and selected options. Password-field values are excluded.
• The selected page's sanitized URL, hostname, title, capture time, and viewport information. URL credentials and query strings are removed from the saved capture.
• The user's maximum-capture-items setting.
• A random local pairing credential, connection protocol state, and temporarily queued Direct Send packages and retry status.
A screenshot is a literal image of what is visible on screen and may therefore contain private content shown on the selected page. Users should capture only content they are authorized to process.
How the information is used
The information is used only to create a WebMotion package and rebuild the selected webpage design inside Adobe After Effects.
The extension may request image resources from the original webpage when needed to include them in the capture.
It does not use captured information for advertising, profiling, analytics, credit decisions, or any unrelated purpose.
Where the information goes
Collect: Creates one ZIP package and saves it to the user's computer through Chrome's Downloads feature.
Direct Send: Transfers the package only to WebMotion Builder running with After Effects on the same computer through the authenticated loopback address 127.0.0.1.
WebMotion Capture does not send captures to WebMotion-operated internet servers. The developer does not receive the captured content.
Captured information is not sold, rented, shared with advertisers, or made available for human review.
Local storage and retention
Settings and the local After Effects pairing credential remain in Chrome's local extension storage until the user clears the extension's data or uninstalls it.
Direct Send packages are temporarily stored in local IndexedDB while a transfer is pending.
A successfully transferred job is deleted from that queue. An interrupted or failed job may remain locally for retry until it succeeds, the extension data is cleared, or the extension is uninstalled.
Downloaded ZIP packages and files imported into an After Effects project remain under the user's control and are retained until the user deletes them.
Security
WebMotion uses temporary activeTab access only after a user action.
Direct Send is restricted to the local computer and uses origin checks, random credentials, one-use challenges, and authenticated request and response proofs.
No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure, so users should treat captures from private or authenticated pages as sensitive files.
User choices and deletion
• WebMotion does not capture pages in the background; the user starts every capture.
• Users can choose a local ZIP with Collect instead of Direct Send.
• Users can remove local extension settings and pending jobs by clearing WebMotion Capture's extension data or uninstalling the extension.
• Users can independently delete downloaded packages and imported After Effects files.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
WebMotion Capture's use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data is used only to provide the extension's clearly disclosed website-to-After-Effects capture functionality.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated when WebMotion Capture's functionality or legal obligations change.
The effective date at the top of this page will identify the latest revision.
