ABOUT WE BE Cell
We Be Cells are formed at Faculty/Unit levels to address the issues raised at the Faculty/Units. The cell identifies the psychosocial issues and well being of students and staff and initiates activities to provide a peaceful study environment and coordinate the all the departments in the faculty.
TOR of the WE BE Cell
Introduction: WeBe cell Terms of Reference Introduction At the University of Jaffna, WeBe cell is formed at the faculty levels to address the concerns relating to wellbeing of staff and students. The WeBe cell of Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce (FMSC) addresses the issues with regards to wellbeing of staff and students raised at FMSC.
Objectives: The main objective of the WeBe cell at FMSC is to enhance physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of the staff and students.
Membership The wellbeing cell shall comprise:
The Chairperson of the WeBe Cell nominated by the Faculty Board
Three academic staff members to be appointed by the faculty board.
Deputy Registrar/Assistant Registrar (Representation of Administrators)
Student counselors Two representatives of non academic staff members (Gender balance is preferred)
Two representatives of student union (Gender balance is preferred)
Two alumni members may be invited from Alumni association, if available (Gender balance is preferred)
Quorum
A quorum for any meeting shall be a majority of members.
Meeting
WeBe Cell of FMSC meets monthly prior to the faculty board, and the minutes of the meeting will be sent to the faculty board through the dean of faculty. Special meetings may be held at the call of the chair giving at least two working days’ notice.
Roles and Responsibilities
Identify the issues with regards to physical, emotional, and social wellbeing of the staff and students.
Provide guidance to staff and students on issues affecting their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
Organize awareness and counseling programs aimed at improving the physical, emotional, and social well-being of staff and students.
Assist University of Jaffna’s WeBe cell in framing strategies aimed at enhancing staff and student wellbeing and quality of life.
The WeBe Cell shall provide continuous support to the differently abled students those who enroll in the Faculty.
Performance Review of the Committee
Reporting The Committee shall confirm that all responsibilities outlined as per the Terms of Reference. The confirmed minutes and progress of the activities will be submitted to the IQAC and Faculty Board.
Review/ Amendments
The wellbeing cell will review its functions and performance annually.
