A radiology information system (RIS) is a networked system suite used to handle associated data and medical imagery. They are particularly useful for maintaining radiological reports and linked data in multiple areas and are often used in combination with a picture communication and archiving software (PACS) to maintain billing and workflow. The software can follow a patient's complete workflow within the radiology business. reports and Images can be attached to and recovered from EMRs (electronic medical records); these documents can then be seen by the approved radiology team.
