Web Chat Scanner
Effective and last updated: August 4, 2026
Web Chat Scanner is an independent browser utility for the official WhatsApp Web service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc.
1. Information we collect
The App developer does not operate a backend server for the App and does not collect, receive, sell, rent, or share your messages, contacts, QR codes, login credentials, authentication cookies, session keys, files, or usage activity. WhatsApp Web may process information under WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
2. Information stored on your device
The App locally stores session names and identifiers, preferences, separate browser profiles (including cookies, cache, IndexedDB, and website storage), and lock settings. A fallback PIN, if enabled, is protected using Android Keystore-backed encryption. User-requested downloads are handled through Android’s Download Manager. This information is not uploaded to an App developer server.
3. QR codes and authentication
The App displays the QR code generated by https://web.whatsapp.com. It does not capture, save, analyze, or upload QR-code images; extract authentication tokens; or automate or bypass authentication. Linking uses WhatsApp’s official Linked Devices process.
4. Permissions and device features
Internet and network status: load WhatsApp Web and report connection errors.
Microphone: requested after a user action when WhatsApp Web needs audio access, such as for a voice message.
Notifications: show supported notifications when enabled.
System file picker: select files without granting access to all device storage.
Download Manager: save user-requested downloads.
Biometric/device authentication: protect App access when enabled. Android processes biometric data; the developer cannot access or store it.
5. Third-party services
The App provides access to WhatsApp Web, which is a third-party service. WhatsApp may collect or process information under its own privacy policy. The developer does not control third-party services.
6. Data sharing and sale
The developer does not sell personal information or share App data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or other developer-operated servers. The App does not include developer-operated advertising or analytics services.
7. Security
The App restricts cleartext traffic, uses private App storage, isolates web sessions, and protects lock secrets using Android Keystore-backed encryption. No electronic storage method is completely secure.
8. Retention and deletion
Local browser data remains until you log out, clear or delete the session, clear all App data, or uninstall the App. Downloaded files remain until you delete them.
Delete an individual session from the session dashboard.
Use Settings → Clear all data.
Uninstall the App or use Android’s Clear storage control.
The App creates no developer-server account, so clearing local data is its account-deletion equivalent.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children. WhatsApp’s minimum-age requirements and terms also apply.
10. International use
WhatsApp Web may process information in locations determined by WhatsApp. The developer does not independently transfer App data to external servers.
11. Changes
This policy may be updated when functionality, legal requirements, or store requirements change. Its “Last updated” date will be revised, and material changes will be communicated through the App or store listing where appropriate.
12. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, contact the developer using the support email displayed in the Web Chat Scanner listing on Google Play.
