WEBBiT Outdoors ("we", "us", or "our") operates the WEBBiT Field Journal mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

## 1. Information We Collect
### Information you provide
- **Account information:** email address, password (encrypted), and a public handle you choose at signup.
- **Profile information:** your home state (used for state-based leaderboards).
- **Trip data:** the trips you log, including dates, locations you type in, species, gear, conditions, notes, photos, and captions.
- **Friend codes:** the 6-character codes you generate or enter to connect with friends inside the App.
- **Trip Advisor inputs:** the conditions you submit when requesting AI advice.
### Information collected automatically
- **Device information:** device type, OS version, and crash diagnostics (via Firebase Crashlytics).
- **Push notification token:** a Firebase Cloud Messaging token used to send you in-app notifications.
- **Purchase records:** Google Play transaction confirmations for Pro purchases.
### Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your precise GPS location.
- We do not track or record specific water bodies, hunting locations, or coordinates.
- We do not share or display your location text or coordinates publicly on leaderboards.

## 2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the App's features (logging trips, viewing stats, syncing data across your devices).
- Show leaderboards (handle and state only — never location or trip details).
- Send you push notifications about insights and reminders.
- Power the AI Trip Advisor by sending your submitted conditions and trip history to our AI service provider.
- Process Pro purchases through Google Play Billing.
- Detect and fix crashes and bugs.
- Communicate with you about your account.

## 3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services. Each has their own privacy policy:
- **Firebase (Google):** authentication, database, file storage, push notifications, crash reporting.

- **Anthropic (Claude API):** powers the AI Trip Advisor. When you request advice, your trip conditions and recent trip history are sent to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic does not use API data to train models.

## 4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With the third-party services listed above, as needed to operate the App.
- When you publicly display information yourself (your handle, state, and trip counts may appear on leaderboards).
- If required by law, valid legal process, or to protect users.

## 5. Your Data, Your Control
You can:
- **Edit your trips** at any time within the App.
- **Delete individual trips**, which permanently removes them and any attached photos.
- **Delete your entire account** from within the App, which permanently removes all your trips, photos, leaderboard entries, friend connections, and profile data.
- **Export your data** as a PDF or CSV (Pro feature).
- **Reset your password** via the email associated with your account.
- **Disable notifications** in your device's system settings.

## 6. Data Retention
- Trip data is retained for as long as you keep your account active.
- Deleted trips are removed immediately from the App and within 30 days from our backups.
- Deleting your account permanently removes all associated data within 30 days.

## 7. Children's Privacy
WEBBiT Field Journal is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at the email below and we will delete it.

## 8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access-controlled databases. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect changes. Material changes will be communicated in the App.
