Mechanism to Find out Advance and Slow Learners

The Department of History, Rangapara College is affiliated to the Gauhati University, Assam and follows the prescribed syllabus for its teaching. The method of evaluation in the sessional exams is objective and subjective and the questions are framed in such a way that it stimulates the reasoning and analyzing skills of the students. Identifying advanced learners are classified as a score of 60% and above, as well as the slow learners scored less than 40% in the qualifying exam.

IDENTIFYING LEARNING LEVELS OF THE STUDENTS: The students will be identified as low performers (LP) and advanced learners (AL) based on the following criteria

1. Semester Results

2. Internal Assessment

3. Home Assignment

4. Group Discussion

5. Class Test

6. Any other method considered to be suitable by the Department

Assessments(IA): The outcome is measured through the following criteria Marks obtained in the previous exams (10+2) and/or in IA,&>60 % as advanced learners, &< 40% slow performers Performance in seminars /presentations and in Internal Assessment.

Special Programs Slow learners:

1. The slow learners provide remedial classes to help them to understand the subjects.

2. Staff mentors also giving counseling them to overcome the learning difficulties.

3. Improvement exams are conducted so that they are given a chance to score better marks.

4. Question Papers of previous year examination, seasonal examination are given and also suggested common questions etc.

5. Extra or tutorial classes are taken.

Advanced Learners:

1. Advanced learners are encouraged to participate in seminars to showcase their talents and skills.

2. Academic presentations are held in every academic year

3. Extra-curricular activities are held once every year, where there is an opportunity for all the students to come out with innovative ideas.

4. Field Trips are also organized for the best experience of historic places with tourism potentiality.

5. Extra classes are taken to meet up their queries.
