Suffolk County Braces for Heat at 4th of July Block Party
Suffolk County, MA – With the Suffolk County 4th of July Block Party set for this Saturday, June 29th, the Suffolk County Fire Department has issued a stern warning about the anticipated high temperatures during the festivities.
The Fire Department's Public Service Announcement (PSA) highlights the potential dangers of heat-related illnesses, including symptoms such as high body temperature, red or dry skin, rapid pulse, headache, dizziness, nausea, confusion, and loss of consciousness.
To ensure the safety of all attendees, the Fire Department advises maintaining hydration by drinking ample water and avoiding excessive alcohol and sugary drinks. They recommend taking breaks in shaded areas and dressing in lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
Cooling stations will be strategically placed throughout the event area, and fire patrols will be actively monitoring for any emergencies. In case of health concerns, attendees are urged to promptly contact emergency services by dialing 911.
Parking will be available in designated lots. Onsite State Police personnel and first aid stations will also be readily accessible to assist attendees.
