Privacy Policy — Weather Tracker (Chrome Extension)

Summary

Weather Tracker (“the Extension”) helps you view weather information for a city you select. The Extension stores a small amount of information locally on your device to improve usability. This Privacy Policy explains what data is processed and how.

Data the Extension processes

Locally stored on your device (via Chrome storage):

• Your last selected city (as returned by the geocoding service: typically city name/region/country and coordinates used for weather requests)

• Your temperature unit preference (Celsius or Fahrenheit)

This data stays in your browser unless you remove the Extension or clear extension storage.

Network requests:
When you search for a city or refresh weather, the Extension sends requests to third-party APIs to retrieve geocoding and weather information:

• Open‑Meteo Geocoding API (geocoding-api.open-meteo.com)

• Open‑Meteo Weather API (api.open-meteo.com)

Those services receive data necessary to provide results, such as your search query and location coordinates derived from your selected city. The Extension does not intentionally send your name, email, or account information to these services (the Extension does not collect accounts).

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information

• We do not run advertising inside the Extension (as described here)

• We do not use third-party analytics SDKs in the Extension package

Children

The Extension is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required by your jurisdiction).

Changes

We may update this policy if the Extension changes. The “Last updated” date will be revised accordingly.
