🌈 Mission Statement🌈

We Are Atascadero Pride exists to celebrate and support LGBTQ+ visibility, inclusion, and belonging in Atascadero, North County, and the inland valleys. WAAP works to ensure that LGBTQ+ people and allies do not have to leave their own communities to find belonging, visibility, connection, and support. Through Pride events, educational outreach, and collaborative partnerships, we create safe and welcoming spaces that honor diversity, strengthen community ties, and uplift every voice.

🌟 Vision Statement🌟

We envision an Atascadero where LGBTQ+ people and allies live openly, safely, and proudly—woven into the fabric of community life. Pride is not just an annual event, but a year‑round spirit of connection, resilience, and joy. By fostering understanding and visibility, We Are Atascadero Pride helps build a future where everyone is free to be themselves and celebrated for who they are.

WAAP exists because of the community around it,

and we want our structure to reflect the care we have for one another.

❤️ Our Beginning ❤️

We Are Atascadero Pride was born from a simple act of remembrance—a drink shared in honor of Dave, whose memory continues to inspire our work.

What began as a personal tribute grew into a community-wide celebration of visibility, belonging, and LGBTQ+ life on the Central Coast.

Our mission is simple: to create spaces where people can gather safely, joyfully, and authentically.

Guided by the belief that “I am because we are,” we work year‑round to strengthen community, deepen understanding, and ensure that everyone knows they have a place here.

Everyone is Welcome.

We Are Atascadero Pride respectfully acknowledge that our community gathers on the traditional lands of the Salinan and Northern Chumash peoples, who have cared for this region across countless generations.

We honor Indigenous communities past and present and recognize our shared responsibility to foster inclusion, community care, and respect for the land and one another.

Everyone is welcome here.
