Our goal as a parent-led group is to create a collaborative space where our special education community can:
Connect
Share experiences and perspectives
Learn and build confidence to navigate the special education process
Raise a collective voice to inform positive, system-wide solutions
Through open and respectful collaboration among families, educators, and district leaders, we aim to foster understanding, share what works well, and help strengthen the special education experience for West Deptford students.
Together, we help every Eagle soar.
We're launching a listening-first phase for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. Help us understand what matters most to your family by filling out the parent input form.
Parents and caregivers are at the heart of our group, but anyone interested in supporting special education students is welcome and encouraged to get involved. Have an idea for a future discussion or presentation? Contact us at wdsepag@gmail.com.
Parents-Only Meeting: Wednesday, March 18, 7:00 p.m. at Riverwinds Community Center
West Deptford SEPAG prioritizes mutual respect and a spirit of collaboration. All participants and meeting attendees agree to uphold a welcoming space for all by addressing each other respectfully, seeking solutions to challenges, and respecting the privacy of others in this public forum.
Mission and Bylaws will be adopted as the WD SEPAG grows and formalizes its leadership structure.
What is a SEPAG? The West Deptford SEPAG (Special Education Parent Advisory Group) serves as a representative body on behalf of students with special education needs and their families in accordance with NJ Administrative Code 6A:14-1.2(h), which states "Each district board of education shall ensure that a special education parent advisory group is in place in the school district to provide input to the school district on issues concerning students with disabilities." In partnership with the West Deptford School District’s enduring commitment to excellence and inclusion for all students, the West Deptford SEPAG strives to foster mutual understanding, respect, and advocacy for students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 Plan, or other special education needs.
Who can participate? Parents of students with an IEP, 504 Plan, or other learning differences in West Deptford are welcome to participate. Others with a genuine interest in improving outcomes for students with disabilities, including students themselves, educators, and related service providers, are also welcome to join us to listen and lend their insight and ideas in support of our shared goals.
What does SEPAG do? West Deptford SEPAG will set up meetings virtually and in person to provide a forum for families to share experiences, identify common concerns, and offer input to the district on policies and practices that affect students with disabilities. We work together to enhance communication, raise awareness, and help shape a more inclusive, supportive educational environment for all students.
Is SEPAG a place to solve individual concerns? While SEPAG is a safe space to discuss ideas and experiences, we focus on recognizing systemic issues, trends, or patterns, and gather suggestions to help shape broad policy, practice, and culture in the district. Families with a specific individual concern that needs to be addressed are encouraged to work directly with their case manager and the child study team.
When do we meet? Meeting dates and locations for the 2025-2026 school year are being planned. Please check back for more information, or email wdsepag@gmail.com to be included on the contact list for updates.
