Following my recent research in travel behaviour, particularly exploring personal exposure to air pollution using a mobility-based approach at the Transport Studies Unit, University of Oxford. I am currently working as the Director of the Depopulation Area Response Centre, KRILA, since February 2022.

As a quantitative geographer, I enjoy working in a multidisciplinary research domain. My approach has also been collaborative, drawing from collaborations with transport engineers, human geographers, and social scientists engaged in a spatio-temporal patterning of crime.

Current Projects

I am the director of the Depopulation Area Response Centre in KRILA. I also serve as a principal investigator for the research project entitled "Tackling population decline in South Korea", funded by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Government of South Korea.

This research project seeks to tackle the continued depopulation in South Korea, particularly in rural and peripheral areas where the population is shrinking and inadequate economic opportunities. By advancing understanding of the causes of population decline and coping with the liveability in declining areas using Big data analysis.

Also, I was awarded a small grant from Oxford University’s John Fell Fund for my proposal entitled Personal air pollution exposure assessment using smart sensing technologies. The grant is to develop a proof-of-concept approach for accurately measuring and analysing air quality exposure at a fine-grained level with 50 individuals living in Oxford.
