  • Dr. Sheley will be giving a tour of the College of Veterinary Pathology and Necropsy labs.

• October 20th: Boo at the Zoo Knoxville

  • Time: 4 - 8:30pm

• October 29th: Dr. Gerhold will be guest lecturing about Lyme disease in wild canid populations

  • Time: 6 - 7 PM

  • Place: HSS 203

  • We are partnering with the American Medical Student Association to discuss Lyme disease in wild canid populations and the implications that has for human health

• November 12th: Dr. Willcox will be guest lecturing about his journey in the Peace Corps and as a One Health Scholar at UT

  • Place: HSS 203

  • Dr. Willcox joined the Peace Corps out of undergrad and embarked on a fascinating, non-veterinary medicine, journey to become a One Health Scholar

• February 22: February Saturday Spruce Up

  • Time: 10 am - 12 pm

  • Place: 916 Shamrock Ave. Knoxville TN

  • This is not an official WDA event, but I wanted to place this clean-up event on the calendar. Keep Knoxville Beautiful is partnering with Trees Knoxville to host this Saturday's Spruce Up. Volunteers will be removing litter around the Oakwood Lincoln Park Neighborhood as part of the ReOak Oakwood Park initiative.

• February 25: Organization Meeting with Dr. Deb Miller

  • Dr. Deb Miller, One Health Specialist from the Wildlife and Fisheries Department as well as the vet school, will be coming to talk about why wildlife health matters for human health.

• March 3: Undergraduate Research Speed Networking Event

  • Time: 5:30 - 7:30

  • Place: First level of Mossman 

  • Graduate researchers who are looking for undergraduate research assistants will be hosting tables in Mossman to give a chance to undergrads looking for research to come and talk about their research and try to get positions. 

• March 8: Keep Knoxville Beautiful: North Knoxville Community Cleanup

  • Time: 9-12

  • Place: Northgate Plaza 

  • Keep Knoxville Beautiful is Hosting their 7th annual North Knoxville Community Cleanup. Volunteers will be cleaning up litter on greenways, neighborhoods, and creeks. And this year they are partnering with Trees Knoxville to plant trees along Walker Blvd. 

• March 11: Organization Meeting: Study Abroad Workshop

  • Time: 6-7

  • Our Katherine Ballard will be giving a presentation on all of the incredible study-abroad opportunities offered to UT students and will answer questions and help applications.

 March 25: Organization Meeting: Dr. Gerhold Guest Speaker

  • UTCVM's pathologist Dr. Gerhold will be speaking on Toxoplasma gondii, a common parasite in felines.
