2018 - 2019 West Covina High School Dance Drill Team
West Covina High School Dance Drill Team was formed over 30 years ago under the direction of Cathi Julien. In 2016, Celestine Denson, a Los Angeles County High School for the Arts alumni and former student of the Ailey School, was given the position to oversee the program. The coaching staff that consists of Brianna Hernandez, Paige Gaul, Fabiola Cruz, and Anna Garcia prides on teaching each dancer the fundamentals of dance along with the life skills needed to accomplish their hearts’ desires. For the past three years, dance drill has not only brought back the USA National Championship title, but continues to hold on tight to it. On this team, each dancer learns versatility when it comes to the art of dance and also gains a place in a lifelong sisterhood that places academics first and foremost. Each dancer is encouraged to maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher, which in turn helps them reach unimaginable highest of achievement and helps them be phenomenal role models to the young dancers of their mentorship program called the West Covina High School Dance Drill Team Littles. With the help of an amazing Parent Booster Team every year, West Covina High School Dance Drill Team is a prestigious group of future leaders and advocates for the West Covina community that are beautiful scholars destined for greatness in both dance and academics.
