WCCI2022 Special Session on

Computational Intelligence with Human Factors

July 18 - July 23, 2022, Padua, Italy

Objective

Computational Intelligence (CI) with human factors, such as Interactive evolutionary computation (IEC), CI for human related applications, CI-based visual/auditory/haptic design, CI for analyzing human characteristics and others, is an approach whereby such properties as human knowledge, experience, and preference are embedded into an optimization/design process and application tasks. By embedding the human being itself into an optimization system or using CI for humans, CI techniques become applicable to tasks for which it is difficult to construct an evaluation system or measure the evaluations.

CI with human factors has been also applied to artistic areas such as creating music or graphics, engineering areas such as sound and image processing, control and robotics, virtual reality, data mining, media database retrieval, and others, including geoscience, education, games, and many other tasks in various areas.

From a framework point of view, CI with human factors can be realized with any CI algorithm by replacing evaluation with a human user. Several CI techniques are used in CI with human factors, in IEC areas, such as interactive genetic algorithms, interactive genetic programming, interactive evolution strategy, human based-genetic algorithm, interactive particle swarm optimization, interactive differential evolution, and others.

There are many directions in CI with human factors research, such as expanding the applications of CI with human factors; expanding CI with human factors frameworks; applying CI with human factors in a reverse engineering approach to analyze humans and thus advance; accelerating CI with human factors searches and improving CI interfaces. The proposed session provides researchers and educators with a platform to report and discuss the state-of-the-art research and study in subjects of computational intelligence with human factors.
