We invite submissions to the Joint ICML and IJCAI Workshop on Computational Biology to be held in Stockholmsmässan, Stockholm SWEDEN (July 10-15, 2018). In Biology, there have been credible developments in high-throughput technologies such as next-generation sequencing, CyToF and single-cell sequencing that enable large-scale data generation from many interesting biological systems such as cancer, autoimmune diseases, and human development. However, the scale of these new data make it challenging to analyze with traditional computational biology methods. In contrast, it presents an opportunity for machine learning practitioners to make significant contributions to our knowledge about human health and disease.
We invite extended abstracts, long papers and highlight papers dealing with novel algorithms and computational approaches that are especially robust and scalable to high-dimensional data defined by tens of thousands of features as well as thousands to millions of observations. and provide interpretable relationships in biological systems. These can be applications of ML methods or bioinformatics approaches to biological and biomedical data.
Papers will be presented in poster format and some will be selected for oral presentation.
Important Dates
Deadline for submissions : Extended to May 25th, 2018
Notification of acceptance : June 11th 2018
Workshop date : July 14th 2018
Submission
All novel Computational Biology approaches are of interest to the workshop. We welcome original abstracts on recently published work as well as preliminary ideas in three different formats:
All submissions must use either the ICML or IJCAI template. The submission need not be anonymized. If the submission concerns previously published work, please cite the original paper in the workshop submission.
Submissions should be made through the EasyChair system.
Accepted submissions will have the option of being published on the workshop website. For authors who do not wish their papers to be posted online or become citable, please mention this in the workshop submission.
Awards
All accepted contributions shall be presented at the poster session. There will be Awards for Best Poster Presentations.
In addition, a set of best submissions will also have the opportunity to present their work as Contributed Talks, and will receive Student Travel Awards.
Registration
All participants must register for the Workshop through ICML 2018 conference or IJCAI 2018 conference.
