Hey,
I am very curious about the questions you have about the food you eat and the life you lead. Feel free to email me or direct message me or post on my AskDrKarp Facebook page.
As you live your life, questions will pop up about food and nutrition. When you do have these questions in the future, feel free to email me (wbkarp@gmail.com), Facebook message me or post a question or comment on my Facebook page ( https://www.facebook.com/AskDrKarp)
Does what you eat right now really matter? Yes!
This is what the REAL facts show:
The habits you begin now follow you into adulthood. You are setting yourself up for life. Have you ever realized that the foods and habits you are developing right now will create the body and life you will have in the future? The fact is that the foods you eat become YOU ...either a healthy you or an unhealthy you. In other words, you are actually choosing the body you will have in the future by what you eat. Be pro-active.
Teens who are overweight and unhealthy as teens become adults who are overweight and unhealthy. You do not gain wisdom and insight, automatically, as you age. Your future experiences and behaviors evolve from past attitudes, habits and behaviors. Adult behaviors don't just pop out of thin air, ya' know...
Teens who engage in sports and have poor nutrition have more bone fractures. For example, teens who drink soft drinks, power drinks, health drinks, slurpies and shakes, instead of skim or low fat milk, have thinner bones, compared to teens who have adequate calcium and Vitamin D in their diet.
Teens who are above their reasonable weight range have higher blood pressures, higher blood fat and higher blood sugar (pre-diabetes) WHEN THEY ARE TEENS...and it becomes worse as you get older. Wondering if you fall within a reasonable weight range? You can easily figure it out. Click Here And Find Out...
Because of poorer lifestyle choices...too much sitting and being "screen-zombies," too much fast food and making other poor food choices...and too much media and advertising misinformation about foods, nutrition and diets...teens' lifespan will be shorter than their parents and grandparents. Wow. Poor lifestyle choices is a VOLUNTARY behavior...it is because of YOU. You can change the choices you make and have a higher quality, longer, healthier and happier life.
Did you know??
Cereal bars, power bars and breakfast bars are, basically, candy bars.
There is a big difference between eating some strawberries or cherries
vs.
eating fruit-filled "bars," kiddie cereals or drinking fruit smoothies or shakes.
