Editor's Note:
As we sat here compiling fruit salads and Frankenstein stories, we realised just how much we can learn when we look at the world through a behavioural lens. That’s why we're thrilled to share the very first edition of Mixed Methods — a collection of research articles, opinion pieces, and creative writing that brings together voices from the global behavioural science community. These insights are now open for everyone to explore.
In research, mixed methods means recognising that understanding rarely comes from a single lens.
In product design, it means looking past what users do to understand why they do it.
In policy, it means level-k thinking — anticipating how people respond to each other, not just to rules.
For us, mixed methods means finding the behavioural thread running through our lived experiences — and pulling on it, continuously, to see where it leads.
This is just the beginning. Our hope is to see this community grow until we’re happily “drowning” in submissions from every corner of the globe. Dive in, explore, and let us know your favourite reads.
Thank you for taking a chance on a small thought seed, and for taking the time to read.
Curiously yours,
Ananya Phadke & Kavya Bhatara,
