Are you a budding musician? Jazz musicians across the country (and the world) have been sidelined by the Coronavirus pandemic. Instead of hearing them live in concert, or listening to another track off of your favorite album, consider taking lessons. WBGO has compiled a list of musicians who are currently giving private lessons online. As we discover more, we'll add to the list.
Jazz Night in America is a jazz documentary project produced by NPR Music, Jazz at Lincoln Center and right here at WBGO.
WBGO has created lesson plans for grades 3 - 12 based on some of these documentary shorts for teachers to use in class. Designed specifically for online teaching, the lessons can easily be modified for in-person, in-class work. (More coming soon.)
Jazz Education is happening online all over the place. Check out the following organizations for their expertise with everything from instrumental lessons to jazz history.
Jazz House Kids is offering multiple online educational tools, listening parties and other online events for students of all ages.
Coming soon. Music educators from all over the state and country will come together to discuss best practices for teaching music (jazz specifically) online. We'll talk about the drawbacks (we know there many!) and the potential bright spots.
