WBDI is an organization that endeavours to promote, support, mentor and encourage women band directors, including students entering the band field. Some of the benefits of membership include:
Unique programs and initiatives that are catered specifically to fostering, encouraging and providing music educational benefit to women band directors and their students.
Programing and initiatives that center on women and the unique issues they face.
Being a part of a network of other women band directors in this state and beyond.
Having allies in the field - people who may have had similar experiences because they are women.
Fellowship, mentorship, promotion and recognition of women in the field of education.
WBDI programs and initiatives serve to promote, encourage and celebrate the efforts of women of all ages and levels of experience and pedagogy.
The purpose of WBDI is to further and support band and band music. We do not compete with other organizations, and look to enhance work that is already being done by other great organizations while supporting and promoting women in the field.
