World Blitz Cup 2021

Decisions

This page is for official decisions on particular cases - match date disputes, no-shows, disqualifications, etc.

The decisions are arranged in the reverse chronological order.

13 September 2021: Extension of the last round

Given the fact that Zoltán and Gergő could only find one possible date within the two-week limit, which was the Wednesday 15 September 11:45 AM, we agreed to extend the round with one day, since the next possible date for them was the following Monday (20 September 2021) afternoon.

The decision was made in order to secure the best possible chances for spectators and Twitch stream with commentary.

23 May 2021: Disqualification of Ashot Avetisyan

We have decided to disqualify Ashot Avetisyan from further participation in the current season of WBC. The last match played by him is considered a technical loss, thus Eva Orlova advances to the next round of the double-elimination stage.

Ashot violated the rules of the WBC multiple times, in particular by booting and insulting spectators who cheered for his opponents during his matches. Despite our attempts to fix the problem and persuade Ashot to change his behaviour, he continued it. In the most recent match played by Ashot, he booted Lukáš Souček from the table when he cheered for his opponent, Eva Orlova.

17 May 2021: Prolongation of the third round of the double-elimination stage

The committee decided to prolong the round by one week, for the following reasons: There was a mistake with official information regarding the end of the round, which mislead a few players, there will be a christian holiday "Pentecost" this weekend and there are many unarranged matches. The official end of the round is 30th May.

8 May 2021: Alexander Miroshnichenko vs Piotr Małowiejski

Alexander Miroshnichenko and Piotr Małowiejski are exceptionally allowed to play their match before the start of 3rd round. The reason why they agreed to play it earlier were technical difficulties on Alexander's side to arrange it during the 3rd round. Their agreement was approved by the Organizers.

The match is scheduled to Sunday, 9th May at 22:00.

10 April 2021: Live stream of random draw for the double elimination stage

The streaming of random draw for the WBC 2021 playoffs will take place on Sunday, 11 April, 21:00 Warsaw time. It will be held on Zoltán László's Twitch channel (twitch.tv/lzoli9) and hosted by Łukasz Majksner.

22 March 2021: Late registration of Jan Purkrábek

We decided to accept the late registration of Jan Purkrábek from Czech Republic, due to having many groups with only 3 players in it. By the random draw, Jan is in Group E.

21 March 2021: Cancellation of live stream of random draw for the group stage

The streaming for the group stage is cancelled due to technical reasons. The groups will be only found on the official site shortly after the registration deadline.

10 March 2021: Application of Alexander Miroschnichenko

The WBC Committee decided to revise the case of Alexander Miroschnichenko. He has a considerably bad reputation and was found guilty in cheating and violating rules of online competitions multiple times. Still, the WBC Committee decided to allow him to play in WBC, however, only under the condition of having to stream all his games. The streams do not need to be public, but the organizers must be able to access them. The streams need to include the display of the screen in real time as well as a proper view of the device and its surroundings, on which he wishes to play. We applied similar protocol to the one used during Gomoku and Renju Youth World Cups in August 2020.

10 March 2021: Cancellation of QTs and prolongation of registration deadline

The WBC Committee decided to cancel qualificational tournaments due to the low number of registered players. The registration deadline was moved to Sunday, 21 March 2021 23:59.

26 February 2021: Repealment of the indefinite ban of Ferenc Rostás

Ferenc was indefinitely banned from WBC and TGWBC tournaments due to his improper behaviour in 2019 during and after his match against Oleg Eremin. Ferenc tried to apply for TGWBC 2020, but he was refused. This year the WBC Committee revised the case again and decided that Ferenc is eligible for WBC, under the strong condition that he will be polite and behave properly regarding the whole Gomoku Community.

Ferenc is exempt from the Qualification Tournaments.

26 February 2021: Refusal of the application of Alexander Miroshnichenko

The application for WBC 2021 by Alexander Miroshnichenko, aka 'Fudjin', was refused by the WBC Committee because he had been cheating for several years in various gomoku competitions, such as Euroleague, Black & White Meijin series, Rustournament, etc. He also proved to be untrustworthy. Despite Alexander's recent promises to play fair, the Committee decided to not take any risks regarding his participation. The decision is in force for the current WBC season.
