Membership is open to Smith School majors, those applying into Smith, and anyone interested in the profession.
In order to be considered an "Active" member of WBA, students must:
Attend 60% of the weekly scheduled meetings
Attend at least 1 signature event per semester
*Only Active members can apply for Executive Board positions, which typically open in late Fall semester.
Each semester, members have the opportunity to apply for a Committee that supports the Executive Board. This is a great way to become more involved in WBA and develop valuable skills for a career in business.
Community Service
Mission: Help in giving back to the local community by supporting public initiatives, encouraging community involvement, and making a positive impact through service.
Opportunities for Engagement:
Brainstorm and assist in planning community service engagements for WBA members to get involved in
Help prepare end-of-year community service event
Plan an external service event for the semester that members are excited (and available) to attend
Events
Mission: Organize and host professional and social events that bring the WBA community together and support its growth.
Opportunities for Engagement:
Assist with planning and volunteer efforts for the Future Women in Business Conference (writing the case, event registration, mentoring teams, judging presentations, etc.)
Plan a (or multiple, can be casual or formal) fun social events for WBA members
Brainstorm and plan future professional and social events
Finance
Mission: Generate fun, creative, and effective methods to raise money for WBA to support our events, members, and programming throughout the year.
Opportunities for Engagement:
Run 2-3 fundraisers throughout the semester
Maintain the WBA budget and establish a monetary goal to achieve
Work with other committees to budget necessary funding for events
Marketing
Mission: Keep building the WBA brand with a focus on empowering women in business through strong branding, increased visibility, and meaningful advocacy.
Opportunities for Engagement:
Brainstorm ideas on how to bring the WBA brand to life on Instagram and LinkedIn
Organize a WBA apparel order to boost our presence around campus
Learn how to build your own personal brand through fun and creative marketing
Membership
Mission: Help keep WBA members connected and engaged by making sure our events and programs are fun, meaningful, and what people want to be a part of.
Opportunities for Engagement:
Assist in matching participants in Big/Little Program
Work with President + VP of Administration to recognize active members at the end of the fall semester
Help with WBA Alumni Outreach + Member Retention
Members may also apply for the Big/Little Program to build meaningful connections and find others to relate to within WBA. The program pairs newer WBA members (“Littles”) with more experienced members (“Bigs”) to foster mentorship, support, and community within the club. It’s a great way to build lasting connections, gain guidance, and feel more involved in WBA.
