For the past six decades, Wayne Chambers has found joy in art - music, dance, and especially painting!
Wayne was born and raised in Virginia, discovering that he would much rather draw and engage in creative activities rather than work on the farm. He studied art at the New York Arts Students League and at Virginia Commonwealth University. Having a passion for teaching, he taught at the Georgian Continuing Education Program, as well as private art lessons.
As a young man, he painted several cityscapes and skyline views of Richmond, Virginia. He was the Retail Merchants Resident Artist for 15 years, where many of his works are displayed in the Boardrooms and Galleries.
While vacationing in Savannah, Georgia, in 2000, Wayne became enamored with the city. During his visit, he painted many of the iconic historic homes of the area, including Mercer House (which featured in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil).
After relocating to Savannah permanently, Wayne was quickly recognized as a local talented artist. He was commissioned to design and create the "Tour of Homes" program covers for more than a decade. His most recent commission was a painting of City Hall in Pooler, Georgia, for the mayor.
Most recently, Wayne is a founding member of the Savannah Gallery of Art located in his adopted home town of Savannah, Georgia.
Wayne has achieved much in his life, culminating in his biggest recognition yet - inclusion in the Marquis Who's Who in America! He is very honored by this nomination and is excited to have his legacy captured in such a public forum!
Wayne's watercolors include the Low Country marshes, tropical beaches and birds, city garden squares, and Savannah views. He loves landscape painting and vibrant colors!
