"What is Way by Will?"
"What is Way by Will?"
Way by Will hosts monthly Saturday outreaches from 12:00–2:00 PM in areas where homeless communities are present. During these outreaches, volunteers distribute prepared meals, snacks, and water with care and respect.
Food outreach is not just about meeting physical hunger. It is an opportunity to build trust, create conversation, and show people they are seen and valued.
In addition to food, Way by Will provides warm and practical clothing tailored to the community's needs. Common items include socks, gloves, hats, underwear, and donated shoes.
Clothing is distributed freely and respectfully, without expectation or obligation. These tangible items often open the door to deeper conversations, allowing volunteers to meet immediate needs while offering encouragement and compassion.
Prayer and evangelism are at the heart of Way by Will. Volunteers offer prayer to anyone who is open to it and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with gentleness and love.
We believe that while physical needs are important, eternal hope matters even more. Jesus calls us to serve without personal gain, as it says in Philippians 2:3-4
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others."
Way by Will believes in consistent presence, not one-time interactions. By showing up regularly, we build familiarity, trust, and meaningful relationships within homeless communities.
At Way by Will, we strive to reflect Christ through reliability, compassion, and humility, meeting people where they are and walking with them, even in the smallest moments.
Way by Will outreaches take place once a month on Saturdays from 12:00–2:00 PM. Volunteers meet beforehand for instructions, safety guidelines, and prayer, then serve in small groups throughout the outreach area.
Each outreach is structured, prayerful, and led with care to ensure both volunteer safety and respectful engagement with those we serve.
At each outreach, Way by Will brings:
Prepared food and bottled water
Warm clothing and essential items
Prayer, encouragement, and Gospel conversations
Why Prayer & the Gospel Are Central
Way by Will exists because of the Gospel. While we serve physical needs, our deepest desire is for people to encounter Jesus Christ through the love we show and experience hope in this life and eternal hope beyond.
The Start
Way by Will began with a shared calling placed on the hearts of young adults across the Twin Cities, including Jadis and Abby, to serve homeless communities in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Jadis had long been surrounded by these communities, having lived in the city, while Abby had experienced life outside of it. Through Scripture, both were reminded of the importance of honoring every person and not just walking with God, but spreading his goodness.
The Beginning Actions
On Wednesday, February 5, while working together as co-workers at the Life Time Athletic Café, Jadis and Abby decided they could no longer ignore what God was placing on their hearts.
They took a step of faith and went to Rice Park in Saint Paul to distribute pamphlets and spread the word about a service outreach scheduled for February 8. An Instagram account was created to reach a wider audience, and, with no prior outreach or leadership experience beyond a love for Jesus, they stepped out in obedience.
Way by Will was born not from expertise, but from surrender, faith, and a willingness to say yes to God’s call.
