Wave Street Studios is a hidden gem on the Recreation Trail above Steinbeck's historic Cannery Row. We are a broadcast venue, concert hall and private events venue for weddings, receptions, meetings and private parties for up to 150. The venue is located half a block from McAbee Beach and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This new all weather indoor/outdoor eco-modern facility has a 1000 sq.' sprung dance floor, studio sound system and complete media and live streaming services. We are live music and late night dance friendly. The setting features a waterfall, radiantly heated bench, manicured succulent gardens, native granite rock walls and copper clad doors. The venue welcomes outside vendors, BYOB and offers a private historic house on site. Wave Street Studios is ideal for planners, brides and locals looking for a unique venue close to area accommodations, visitor services and attractions. 

What's included:  

Terms: The studio requires a $1500 deposit to reserve your date. Clients pay to 50% of the total contract 90 days before the date and the balance 30 days before the date. All payments received by the venue are non-refundable however clients can reschedule their date within 12 months and change the type of event to best suite their needs.

Bar Service: Wave Street Studios received a liquor license in April 2024 and is now offering bar services for our clients. Packages include alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, glassware, bartender, back bar and busing staff starting at $30 per person. Clients can also augment our offerings by by bringing the must have drink choices of their own. Review our option on our Bar Packages Tab.

Dinner Packages/Options: Wave Street Studios now offers complete customizable dinner/appetizer packages at various price points. Dining packages include food, tableware, linens, serving staff, table set up, bussing and clean-up. A start to finish service with Wave Street’s highly experienced staff so that you can relax and just enjoy your special day. 

Outside Vendors: Wave Street Studios has always been outside vendor friendly venue and in keeping with this long held tradition clients can also contract directly with the caterer, food truck and/or vendor(s) of their choice.  Studio staff will work to integrate your vendors into the facility with space requirements, electrical, lighting, building access, parking solutions, wifi etc.

Times: Studio access from 2pm to 4pm the day before for a ceremony rehearsal, 9am to midnight the day of and 9am to noon the following day to pick up anything left overnight (food, cake, alcohol, flowers, decorations, gifts etc.) 

Floor Plans: Studio owner/designer Rhett Allen Smith works directly with our clients to create a custom floor plan(s) for your pre-ceremony, ceremony, reception and after party.

Set up and Clean up: The studio provides and sets up all the tables, chairs, rolling bar, buffets, patio heaters, plants, custom lighting, indoor outdoor speakers, piano, dance floor etc. (See Included furnishings tab) included in your custom floor plan. 

Transitions: Studio staff moves/adds/removes the tables and chairs for all your transitions from pre-ceremony to ceremony, ceremony to reception, reception to dancing and dancing to clean-up. 

Rentals: For DYI clients, studio staff will receive your rentals (linens, runners, plates, glasses, silverware, napkins etc.)  the morning of or day before your event. Place your rented linens on the tables typically before 11am the day of. This allows our clients to set up table settings, place center pieces, decorate and enjoy some set-up time in the venue with family.The following day, studio staff will be here 9am to noon to facilitate the return of your rentals to your rental company.

Audio/Video: Studio rental includes our 16 speaker sound system, wireless handheld microphone, basic public address system, 65" smart TV monitor and use of our Yamaha C-7 Grand Piano. Studio has a commercial free Spotify account you can use or clients can log in to Apple Music, or any music service on our computer for background music in the studio, on our patio, in our tearoom or upstairs on our Wave Street level. 

Bridal Ready Room Option: $1000 The historic Quock Mui House is available for use as a bridal ready room (10am to 10pm, no overnight accommodations)

Fire Place option: $300 Includes firewood with S'more fixings, roasting sticks etc.

Rain Cover: $750  Wave Street Studios can rain protect our patio ensuring the full use of our Recreation Trail level for outdoor dining. Clients can elect to include this option as late as the morning of the event to avoid having to guess what the weather will be like.

We had roughly 130 guests in the end and the owners Judy and Rhett worked with us and our vendors to make sure that we had a perfect floor plan to accommodate everyone.

Entering and walking down the stairs with my dad was so special!

The warm outside concrete benches and heating elements that were brought out in the evening kept everyone toasty who wasn't dancing, and the sprung floors inside the sound studio were a joy to dance the night away on!

We were able to fit in a music jam session toward the end of the night and made arrangements to be able to stay until 1am! If I could do it all over again right now, I would do it all the same!

Thank you Judy and Rhett for being so wonderful! My wife visited multiple times to plan out and visualize the space and each time they were welcoming and accommodating. The space is unique with a wonderful layout that has both a sheltered cozy feel while being mostly outdoors and open (a big variable when planning a wedding in times of COVID). We also appreciated their commitment to minimizing waste and being environmentally conscious. Also, the flexibility to extend hours of the event made our wedding so much more relaxed rather than moving through quick transitions. Our guests noted that they never felt rushed. The building is beautiful, and the owners were so helpful during the wedding. They helped with the layout, and helped our caterer set up. It was a little difficult to get in touch with the owner until he got an assistant to help. She was very nice and easy to get a hold of. We planned for 94 guests are our wedding. I was a little worried because I thought we would be tight on space, but we all fit very comfortably. The outside court yard, and heated bench was lovely. I am so glad we found this gem. Legal Compliance

Our venue operates under a Type 90 Liquor License issued by California’s Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC). To comply with state law:

• Alcohol service is restricted to individuals 21 years of age or older.

• Staff reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who appears intoxicated.

• All alcohol consumed on the premises must be supplied by Wave Street Studios

Day of Event Insurance: Only required without a Wave Street Studios bar package.

You will need to purchase a day-of-event insurance policy if you plan to serve alcohol.

The coverage amount should be 1 million dollars.

The primary entity to insure is you or whoever is renting the venue (person, couple, corporation, partnership etc)

Wave Street, Monterey - Parking Solutions

For parking, we recommend that out-of-town guests stay at a nearby hotel. (The Clement Intercontinental is right beside us. 

Less expensive probably, 3 blocks away, is the Victorian Inn Best Western.) Then they can just leave their car at the hotel and walk over.

Otherwise, there are several lots and a large public parking garage within a block. Typically, they run around $20/day.

Also, just past Hopkins Marine Station towards Pacific Grove (along the coast), (about a 1/3 mile away), there is free all-day parking.
