CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS/AVAILABLE ROLES- WAVES AND WONDERS
Connor/Cora
Description: The lead. Curious, dreamy, a little awkward. Needs an expressive actor who can handle emotional ballads (“Why Can’t I?”) and comedic beats. Should have strong stage presence since he’s in nearly every scene.
Noah
Notes: Warm, grounded presence. Doesn’t need to be over-the-top funny. He has a kind heart and wants the best for his little brother. This role is ideal for a confident actor who can balance humor, warmth, and sincerity.
Maya
Description: Connor’s smart, bold best friend. Needs a confident actor with good comic timing but also sincerity for the duet (“Back on Shore”). Casting someone with strong acting even if their voice isn’t the biggest is smart here.
Coralina (Mermaid Guide)
Description: Witty, magical, playful but wise. Needs charisma and strong comedic instincts. Great role for someone who shines in solos and has a “sparkly” personality.
Finn/Finley (Goofy Fish)
Description: Comic relief sidekick. Needs a funny actor with lots of energy, physical comedy, and a big personality. Strong singing not as important as stage presence and humor.
Marlin (Royal Wizard)
Description: Marlin is dramatic, proud, and a little over-the-top — think wizard energy meets sea king. He’s powerful and mysterious, but also a bit funny without realizing it. He genuinely believes he’s the protector of the ocean and can be intimidating, but deep down, he just wants respect and order in his world.
Queen Maris (Ruler of the Sea)
Description: Dramatic, powerful, slightly over-the-top queen. Needs someone who can “own the stage” and belt confidently in “Rules of the Reef.” Great for a performer who loves being larger-than-life.
Krill (Wannabe Villain)
Description: Tiny villain who thinks they’re terrifying but is actually adorable and funny. Needs great comedic timing and confidence. Best for an actor who loves being silly and hamming it up.
Wyatt
Description: A fun-loving ocean explorer with a big personality and an adventurous spirit. Wyatt is quick with a joke, loves excitement, and helps Connor realize that adventure comes with responsibility. Great for a performer who enjoys comedy, energetic movement, and being part of important ensemble scenes.
Skye
Description: A thoughtful and wise ocean resident who understands the sea better than most. Skye is calm, observant, and helps Connor see that actions have consequences. Great for a performer with strong acting skills who can bring warmth, maturity, and emotional depth to the stage.
Ensemble (Ocean Ensemble / Real World Students)
Description: They play glowing jellyfish, dancing coral, storm spirits, and classmates. Great for younger kids who want to be part of the show with lots of singing and movement.
