I run Studio One 5.x with 100+ plugins on Windows 10. Mainly use Waves, SoundToys, Plugin Alliance, and Fab Filter EQ. Everything was working great and then one day it all stops. Loading projects that normally took seconds to load started taking 20+ minutes always getting stuck at loading the plugins. Each plugin took minutes. Waves plugins seemed to be the worst but Plugin Alliance was also slow.

I should also note that if you are having the slow loading plugins issue, because of the hardware inventory process, it could be another piece of USB or other hardware and if it is not the SD reader you should systematically remove/add other hardware to see if that is the issue.

I am having the same problems with Waves plugins and multiple DAWs. I am not using an SD card. I have the latest version of Studio One and Reason and Pro Tools. FOr example RVERB took over 21 seconds to load. Waves please help us with this.

Thats a good tip that tends to help with some issues that are related to upgraded plugins trying to read older data. Additionally, a cache delete & rebuild is sometimes handy in the case of AudioUnit issues.

After delete the Waves server and restart my PC, i have the same problem. The plugins from waves load for so much time. Some times it will be good and sometimes it load and load and load.

I work with Sequoia 15 and Cubase 11 - the same problem.

V12 plugins are programmed for, tested, qualified and supported on recent the more recent versions of DAW listed here:

 -specs/supported-hosts

Older DAW versions are missing certain necessary components and updates to support the current graphics and other aspects of the plugins.

Do to this we cannot fix issues with older DAW versions or add compatibility for DAW versions that are no longer in development.

Hi, Just saw this. I am having trouble with waves plugins in Reaper with windows 11. I saw your fix but have a question. I saw on the waves website that you cannot install your plugins more than once a year, In fact I tried directly uninstalling the plugins through maintenance on the app and the option is not there. Am I correct in assuming if I follow your fix I can then re-install the plugins?

Thanks,

Rich

This should fix the problem, personally I skipped step 5, which still works but it takes longer because Reaper is still having to struggle with the previously installed problem plugins, but it seems to figure itself out once it sees the reverted versions. Hope this helps!

Anyone have some go-to waves plugins? Just got waves set up with our Broadcast X32 at church and will be running it for the first time this week. Wanting to focus on vocals and master this week to start, but open to anything.

I also have the problem and tried several reinstalls.

Probably I missed something in the manual uninstall process.

Can you please share what exactly you did during uninstalling?

Which folders etc. do I have to uninstall?

Did you have to delete registry entries?

At the moment all my waves plugins are useless.

Thanks to you and REV for this!!! I noticed my Pro Tools sessions started taking FOREVER to load after I opened waves central and it updated itself. Came here, found your solution (HD\Library\ApplicationSupport\Waves\WavesLocalServer -Delete Folder). I just put the folder in the trash, without emptying to be safe in case something terrible happened lol, and bam, sessions loading fast again.

I had this problem with v13 plugins, and got it to go away by doing a Waves cleanup in Waves Central. After installing v14, the problem came back. Deleting the WavesLocalServer folder fixed the problem.

Waves plugins already leveraged a common codebase in the past. This made them easier to maintain and update while keeping the disk footprint low. It seems to me that they nearly upgraded at least part of it to run like a server, my guess is to allow for interoperability between plugins and Cosmos and possibly StudioRack with their new VST support.

UPDATE: I contacted PreSonus who were great, but said the responsibility is with Waves, and Waves only officially support v12 of their plugins for Studio One 5+. The only solution seems to be upgrade to Waves v12. Unfortunately I'm not prepared to pay the cost of the update, so have moved over to Slate Digital and couldn't be happier with them! Shame as I've spent many hundreds of pounds on the Waves plugins over the years.

So maybe a better option is to copy the Waveshell vst and the Waves plugin files to the USB drive, then dump the plugins to the standard Waves plugin files folder, and the WaveShell to the host vst folder. Then run Waves Central to get the licence.

I have done multiple uninstalls and reinstalls via Waves Manager, full restarts, and still I only see two plugins in Logic in my Waves folder when inserting a plugin on a track: The free CLA echo-reverb and the Kings Microphone lol. I have used the full Abbey Road collection on my 2013 MBP 15" Retina, no issues. Easy install and authorizing process.

We are working to qualify and update our software to work there, but this may take some time and I do not have an ETA.

In the meantime, I cannot offer any troubleshooting steps or help resolve this.

Do you still own a previous Mac with Intel processor where the plugins run properly?

Heya Simon. I worked out that I needed to migrate logic and waves plugs from the intel machine to the M1, then open logic in Rosetta and validate the plugs to the M1. All present and accounted for and running very well. That will hold me over nicely until I can go native when waves is rockin the M1.

Yes PG, there are 2 Waves entries in the cache list. One for VST2 and the path is C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins\WaveShell1-VST 9.92_x64.dll. Here, in alphabetical order, API through GTR Stomp plug-ins show up in the cache list, and this is exactly what shows up in Wavelab. No Waves plug-ins after the letter G show up. Again, this is EXACTLY a reflection of what is listed in the Wavelab Preferences>plug-ins>waves, and of course I can load these in the master section.

I see scanning Waveshells 1,3 and 6. Waveshell 6 is now the only one with plugins. But out of 26 there are only 3 detected. I see them while scanning.

Wavelab 9.5 is still unusable for me with this problem. Still working with WL8.

Yes, I only installed VST3 (VST2 is not working on Mac M1).

I also did a detection-run with only the Wavelab-folder selected.

So a few plugins are loaded, but only 25% of the plugins I own.

Very weird!

Hi Brad,

I finally installed Windows 7 64bit on a bootcamp partition of my MacBook.

I installed the 3200 build of Cantabile 3, and a pair of Waves plugins.

I currently have no other software and / or plugins on the system.

Anyway, when starting Cantabile, plugins in shell container, now, are properly recognized, both on 64bit and 32bit version.

I need to update Cantabile, Waves Central and try on a notebook with Windows 10 where I had encountered the problem.

One more thing to keep in mind: If you do not have any audio i/o on your PC, the scanning and loading of plugins (mostly Native Instruments) will take forever. Yesterday I took my studio pc home for maintenance and forgot my audio interface. Unfortunately, the pc has no build in soundcard, so i was feaced with this behaviour

I have a lot of Logic sessions that use Waves plugins with specific settings to create certain sounds. I built up these sounds over the years and I often need to return to these sessions and use these sounds again. If the settings I used in these sessions were to be lost, I would lose years worth of sound design work.

Secondly, if you are worried that third-party dependencies might one day not work, you'll need to assess what that will do to important projects, and archive out versions where you render processing to audiofiles so they will still sound as intended with that processing (keeping the raw recordings too, of course). This means you will always be able to go back and remix or rework that work without the loss of third-party plugins changing anything too much.

I have the Maschine MK3 and have Waves plugins, but I am not able to use them in Maschine. Some of the plugins were showing before but ever since I upgraded my plugins to Horizon, none of them appear when I try to add them for mixing. They show the plugins loading at start up and are also shown when I do a plugin rescan, but still nothing. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the model Mac I have (2014-2015 I believe), but that seems not to be the case in my opinion as I'm able to use them fine in FL Studio. Does anyone have a possible solution?

Also, what method do you sue to auth waves? I have a USB license method (becasue Waves sux and charge you a yearly fee to access their rubbish from more than 1 machine) and if my USB is not detected on startup all the waves plugins dissapear when I open any DAW until I unplug/replug the USB and restart my DAW. If you are authed to your system using the systemID bind then likely that is not the issue but who knows, had and seen many issues with Waves over the years. Would never spend a penny more on their stuff.

@JesterMgee I have mostly V14 of Waves and I don't think I was aware of their one machine policy. Does that mean I can use them in FL but not Maschine or do you mean a separate laptop/desktop? Could you also explain the USB method? I know I have Waves Central and they are downloaded to my computer hard drive. Also, I've been hearing that people aren't liking the direction Waves is going. I just started getting into finding what would be the best product for VSTs and plugins so I purchased Waves before they moved to the subscription model. 2351a5e196
