Project Alliance is my first attempt at making a video game.
It is a very minimalist RTS-like game that let up to 4 players fight together on LAN or Internet network.
It has no solo mode (and probably never will).
Its final twist over the RTS genre is not implemented yet but should revolve around one of the following ideas:
Each game should be very different from the previous one (no need for complex openers/build orders)
The player's faction (units, mechanics, power-ups, etc) should be dynamically built during the game based on what happens.
The map should have a great impact on the way we play.
I imagine strong concepts that occur only on certain maps (flags to capture, waves of zombies spawning, timers, etc)
The game should remain very simple and accessible (no base building, no need for 200 apm)
The game should be fair and competitive BUT alliances are fun and should be encouraged

The game being hosted by the Player 1 machine, it is wise to choose the most performant computer to run the game.
In order to let other players connect to the host machine, Player 1 should configure its internet box so that its computer has a fixed IP and let the internet port number 7777 opened.
Follow these steps:
In your internet browser, type 192.168.1.1 to access the box settings
Enter your credentials (usually login=admin and password is either written on the box or is defined by you)
Go the settings panel, then select network settings
In NAT/PAT section, create a TCP/UDP rule to connect external and internal 7777 ports together
The game is clearly not in its definitive shape but it takes time for me as a solo developer to work on it, besides my normal work.
The following basic RTS concepts are now being tested:
Game and network performances optimization
Basic ergonomics design
The next steps of the development should include:
Addition of several maps to be suitable for every configurations (2, 3 or 4 players)
Addition of a power-up system that let the players customize/improve their faction
