Whether you’ve been part of the WATLF journey for years or you’re joining us for the very first time, this year’s forum isn’t just a conference — it’s a shared experience. Come ready to contribute, connect, and be part of reimagining the future of learning and teaching in WA.

Change is one of the few constants in education, but it rarely arrives as a single, decisive moment. It gathers in the questions our students bring into the room, in the technologies that alter what is possible, and in the ideas that ask us to reconsider what—and whose—knowledge we value.

The 2027 WA Teaching and Learning Forum invites us to think more deeply about change: not only how we respond to it, but how we participate in creating it.

What becomes possible when imagination is treated as a genuine educational practice? How do our identities—and those of our students—shape what we notice, value and understand? And how might we think about impact; not simply as something to be measured, but as the difference our work makes in the lives, communities and futures it touches?

Call for Proposals Now Open

Some of the most valuable conversations at WATLF begin with a practical question:

What have we tried? What have we learned? What might others take from it—and where could we go next?

We invite academic and professional staff, researchers, students and postgraduate students from Western Australia’s five universities to share their work through a Showcase presentation, Interactive Workshop or focused Nuts & Bolts presentation.

Your proposal might introduce an established practice, emerging idea, research project or work in progress. It might share evidence of what has worked, examine something that did not unfold as expected, or invite others into a question that deserves wider consideration.

You do not need to have all the answers. You just need something worth sharing—and a willingness to join the conversation.

In February 2027, WATLF will bring together educators, professional staff, researchers, students and sector leaders from across Western Australia’s five universities.

Across two days of presentations, workshops and conversations, we will share what we are learning, explore what remains difficult and imagine new possibilities for higher education—together.

Further announcements about keynote speakers, registration and the program will be shared over the coming months.
