Washington Association of Teachers of Japanese

Welcome to WATJ!

ワシントン州日本語教師会へようこそ!

The Washington Association of Teachers of Japanese was founded in November 1991 with the goal of promoting and providing high-quality Japanese language education in Washington state. Today, our members represent over 80 teachers from preschool through university levels in private and public school settings, as well as representatives from partner organizations and contributors.

WATJ is an affiliate of the American Association of Teachers of Japanese (AATJ). We work with other organizations in support of Japanese teachers and students and are grateful for the collaboration and support of: the Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle, the Hyogo Business and Cultural Center, the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington (JASSW), the Washington Association for Language Teaching (WAFLT), and others.

See our Events page for a calendar of annual and upcoming WATJ events and activities!
