Justin Waterworth for City Council
Rooted in Powell. Focused on Ward 3
Rooted in Powell. Focused on Ward 3
I’m running for Powell City Council because I want the people of Ward 3 to feel seen, heard, and represented.
Our ward includes three parks, two elementary schools, and the heart of downtown Powell. That is a strength we should be putting to work for the whole community.
Powell is a wonderful place to live, raise a family, start a business, and build a future. But like many small towns, we face real challenges: growth, infrastructure, utilities, housing, affordability, and keeping our downtown strong.
I believe we can meet those challenges with practical leadership, honest communication, and a commitment to working together.
Powell should remain a place where working families, young people, retirees, and longtime residents can afford to live. Housing solutions must be part of our long-term planning.
Downtown Powell is one of our greatest assets. Supporting local businesses, encouraging foot traffic, and keeping downtown vibrant will help strengthen the entire community.
Powell is growing, and we need to plan carefully. That means thinking ahead about streets, water, sewer, utilities, public services, and the long-term costs of expansion.
Ward 3 is home to important gathering places for families and children. These spaces help define our quality of life and deserve thoughtful attention.
Strong schools help build a strong community. As an educator, I understand the important role schools play in attracting families, supporting local businesses, and preparing future generations. I believe the city should maintain positive partnerships with our schools and support the success of Powell's students and families.
Justin Waterworth is a teacher, coach, volunteer, and longtime member of the Powell community. His family roots in the area reach back to the homesteading days, and he is committed to preserving what makes Powell special while helping prepare the city for the future.
As an educator and coach, Justin understands the importance of listening, building trust, solving problems, and serving others. He brings a practical, solution-driven approach to public service.
Justin is running to be a steady voice for Ward 3 and a strong advocate for Powell’s future.
I’m honored to have the support of community members who care deeply about Powell’s future.
Laurie Larsen, longtime Powell community advocate, has endorsed my campaign after withdrawing from the Ward 3 race. Laurie’s years of service and commitment to downtown Powell reflect the kind of community-centered leadership I hope to bring to the council.
This campaign is about community, conversation, and representation.
