For glasses wearers, the Sunffice Open Ear Headphone is my top pick for waterproof bone conduction headphones swimming because its rotatable single-ear hook adapts perfectly to thick frames without pressure points. The Monster Open Ear BC300 is the strong runner-up if you need built-in storage to swim without a phone nearby.
• Sunffice Open Ear Headphone — best for all-day comfort with glasses; pick this if you need a lightweight, single-sided design that rotates to fit any frame style while offering massive battery life for long days out.
• Monster Open Ear BC300 — best for swimmers who want total wireless freedom; pick this if you need 32GB of internal memory to store music directly on the device and require an IPX8 rating for deep submersion.
• MRYTKY Bone Conduction Headphones — best for runners who prioritize modern connectivity; pick this if you want the latest Bluetooth version for stable pairing and a flexible titanium frame that stays put during intense movement.
• SAMVEK Swimming Headphones — best for serious pool sessions and adjustable fits; pick this if you need a dedicated swimming mode with a secure headband strap and extensive local storage for hours of uninterrupted playback.
This single-earpiece design is a game-changer for anyone who wears prescription glasses or sunglasses. Unlike traditional over-the-head models that clamp your temples together, the Sunffice unit rests gently around one ear with a rotatable hook. This rotation allows you to angle the arm away from your eyewear, eliminating the painful pinching that often occurs when standard bone conduction bands squeeze between your temple and your glasses arms. It feels like a whisper rather than a press, which is exactly what you need when wearing them for hours at a time.
The audio experience relies on bone conduction technology, meaning sound travels through your cheekbone to your inner ear while leaving your ear canal completely open. This keeps you aware of your surroundings, a critical safety feature for outdoor running or cycling. The integrated microphone uses noise cancellation to filter out wind and traffic noise, ensuring your calls remain clear even in busy environments. You get a full day of listening with up to 26 hours of playtime, and the standby time is incredibly long, so you rarely worry about charging it before a weekend trip.

However, this is a single-ear solution, not a stereo pair. If you are looking for immersive, two-channel music that fills both ears, this won't be your choice. It is strictly designed for hands-free calling, navigation cues, or monitoring your environment while keeping a single channel of audio active. For many users, especially those focused on safety and communication, this trade-off is a small price to pay for the comfort and convenience of not having a band across the top of their head.
The Monster Open Ear BC300 stands out primarily because it brings true independence to your swim workouts. It features 32GB of built-in memory, allowing you to load thousands of songs directly onto the device. This means you can leave your smartphone at home or on the pool deck entirely. When you jump into the water, the headphones function as a standalone MP3 player, delivering music without any wires or Bluetooth connection needed underwater. This eliminates the lag and connection drops that sometimes happen when trying to stream wirelessly through water.
Water resistance is where this model truly shines for aquatic use. With an IPX8 rating, it is engineered to handle heavy sweat, rain, and temporary submersion. The manufacturer specifies it can withstand being underwater up to two meters for up to two hours. This makes it a robust companion for lap swimming, open-water training, or even snorkeling. The microphone is also fully waterproof, so you can take calls or record voice notes immediately after your workout without worrying about water damage to the controls.
The main compromise here is the battery life compared to the Sunffice option. While 10 hours of playtime is sufficient for most daily activities and several swim sessions, it falls short of the marathon endurance offered by the single-ear alternative. Additionally, the design focuses on a dual-ear open fit, which some glasses wearers might find slightly more intrusive than the rotating single-ear hook of the Sunffice model. Still, for the sheer utility of going wireless in the water, the internal storage is a powerful selling point.
If your priority is cutting-edge connectivity and a fit that feels like it was molded specifically for your head, the MRYTKY S1 is a compelling choice. It utilizes Bluetooth 5.4, the newest generation of wireless standards, which ensures a rock-solid connection with minimal latency. This stability is crucial for syncing audio with video content or maintaining clear call quality without annoying dropouts. The range extends up to 33 feet, giving you plenty of room to move around your living space or gym floor without losing signal.
The build quality focuses heavily on durability and flexibility. The frame is constructed from a wraparound titanium material that bends without deforming. This isn't just marketing fluff; it means the headphones can withstand the rigors of trail running, rock climbing, or aggressive cycling without snapping or losing their shape. The open-ear design prevents ear fatigue, making it suitable for extended wear during long training sessions.
The trade-off lies in the waterproofing and battery capacity relative to the dedicated swimming models. With an IPX5 rating, it handles sweat and rain effectively but is not designed for submersion. You cannot take this into the pool for laps. Furthermore, the 10-hour battery life, while solid, is shorter than the Sunffice's massive capacity. It is an excellent general-purpose sports headphone, but if your primary goal is to swim regularly, you will need to look elsewhere for a higher waterproof rating.
The SAMVEK X6 is built with one specific mission in mind: conquering the pool. It combines an IP68 waterproof rating with a dedicated MP3 mode that activates automatically for underwater use. This ensures that when you are submerged, the Bluetooth signal doesn't interfere, and the music continues to play smoothly via the internal 32GB storage. The design includes an adjustable headband strap, which adds a layer of security that many other open-ear designs lack. This strap helps keep the headphones firmly in place, preventing them from slipping off during vigorous flip turns or high-intensity drills.
Sound transmission is handled through advanced bone conduction drivers that work efficiently even under water. The ear canals remain open, allowing you to hear your own breathing and the sounds of the pool environment, which is vital for situational awareness. The device supports various audio formats, including MP3, WMA, WAV, APE, and FLAC, giving you flexibility in how you manage your library. The fast charging capability gets you back in the water quickly, providing eight hours of continuous playback after just two hours of charging.
While the swimming capabilities are top-tier, the overall package is less versatile for land-based activities compared to the others. The headband design, while secure, might feel bulkier to some users than the sleek, minimalist profiles of the Sunffice or MRYTKY models. Additionally, the Bluetooth range is limited to 10 meters, and the battery life of eight hours is the shortest among the four options. If you do not plan to swim frequently, the extra cost and specialized design might not offer enough value over a more general-purpose sport headphone.

Yes, provided they have a high waterproof rating like IPX8 or IP68. Models like the Monster BC300 and SAMVEK X6 are designed for submersion and include internal storage to play music without a phone.
Absolutely. The Sunffice model is specifically noted for its rotatable hook that avoids pressure on glasses arms. Other models generally sit behind the ears, which works well for most frame types, though fit can vary by individual head shape.
No, not if you choose a model with built-in memory. The Monster BC300 and SAMVEK X6 both hold up to 32GB of music, allowing you to swim wirelessly without carrying your phone into the water.
