Students will be tasked with exploring the issues of water scarcity around the world. This will include things such as dirty and unsafe drinking water, lack of water for proper sanitation and hygiene, as well as general water shortages. As water is needed to grow and process food, create energy, and serve industry for a continually growing population. Clean water is an essential ingredient of a healthy human life, but many people lack access to water. The aim of the lessons will lead the students to develop a deeper understanding of these issues and what can be done to combat them.

The end goal is for students to learn about the different ways to bring clean and safe water to people, as well as conserve and manage existing resources well to prepare for a future of potential water insecurity. They will also resource and find ways to adjust, adapt, and overcome water shortages. To reach these goals, they will challenge existing ideas and solutions while working in groups to discover the best way forward for each setting they are introduced to.
